statement:

My work contains an element of randomness. I create without thinking too much about the why or what. At other times I have a vague idea that I adhere to loosely. I approach things intuitively and draw out whatever may be waiting inside to be manifested, primitively. The joy of creating for me stems from not knowing how things will turn out... Constantly gauging and exploring the nuances that compete with each other inside me to be manifested into this physical plane... My goal is to provoke a reaction in the viewer that goes beyond the surface and material into the invisible, and yet, concrete layer of existence, to get to the marrow of our collective and still unique, and yet not so unique, journeys in life. In my opinion, true art is not a physical 'thing' but a state of mind and spirit, a language of exploration, seeking, testing and trying the boundaries of our ineffable Consciousness.

Biograhy:

Young Kim was born in Soul, South Korea. He came to the U.S. at the age of six with his parents and a brother and sister. Unable to endure the mounting pressure from his traditional Korean parents, Young rebelled, quit high school and joined the army, spending three years as a tank driver and combat medic stationed in Europe. After the military, Young attended The Massachusetts College of Art and Design while concurrently attending The Museum School of Fine Arts in Boston, Massachusetts. He is currently serving time in New York. Young spends his free time being broke. He pretends that he is aware of whats going on around him...Young plans on winning the lottery and raising an army. In his spare time, Young likes to unwind and relax by doing laundry, especially the whites, making them unbelievably and blindingly white. He says he enjoys doing his share making the world a cleaner and better place by turning filthy dirty stained things really clean and fresh. Young says the secret of getting really sparkling whites is wringing with love and a very firm grip.
